it depends on the bank you work for and they will assign you to the specific department. As from what I know, some MT can't get into their top choice department, again, depend on the headcount of each dept.

So, you might end up with less exp and business exposure to someone who was hired with you, but been focusing on the department. However, MT is always good program to learn and to "relax".
