This is actually what I’m talking about.  I’ve noticed that I’m much more proficient at writing than I was before working in research.  There are standard reports I have to write but there is also the occasional fire drill.  I’m now much faster at gathering large amounts of information, assessing the situation, making a recommendation, and writing it all down.  English is my second language so the thought of an essay section has always scared me.  I guess for me, I’m not talking about having an edge but being on a level playing field.
