There are more conceptual questions that require application and a good understanding of the material than these trivial pursuit type of questions that you speak of.

Know your material well, avoid careless mistakes, read questions properly, and practice problems that teach you how to apply concepts.

There will be a few questions drawn from some random table/paragraph somewhere in the the curriculum. Make an educated guess and move on.
