Ethics - Volunteers/Interns (unpaid) volunteers, employees, position, ethics, about

i’ve seen this come up in a few ethics questions that talk about breaches of the codes by unpaid volunteers / interns. What’s the CFAI position on this? Do the codes apply to unpaid employees?
Ethics clearly isn’t my strong point i know.
