For me it literally took 2-3 days for the my society to process the membership paperwork/invoice. Once the payment went through, I got an e-mail with a receipt from NYSSA and then 5 minutes later I got an e-mail from CFAI asking for their annual dues. Once I paid CFAI, I became a "Regular" member.
