I am thinking of sending my work experience for approval to CFAI but have the following questions:

1. I have 6+ years of trading experience but it is 10+ yrs old. Does it count? also, the firm that I worked with as a trader has long been gone (bought out by someone and then the acquirer got bought out) and there is no trail. How will CFAI verify this (assuming I can use this experience to begin with).
2. I have 5+ yrs of experience with a non-life insurance company in the risk management area. I was involved in little bit of everything; actuarial modeling, statutory filings, fund investments, M&A etc. will CFAI consider this experience acceptable?

I'd say you're good, but how yo describe your experience is important. Find their list of what qualifies as experience, then try to include some of their key terms when you describe your own work.
