How Far Is Everyone On Their CFAI Reading? - Dec 2011 L1

Hey All,

First time posting, long time forum troll...

I'm a bit concerned that my reading pace is a bit too slow... I'm on reading 9 right now and looking at my reading schedule, I'm about 2 weeks behind in order to give myself about a whole month for review. This is following the general schedule outlined by Study Sessions on the inside cover of Book 1. I'm trying to finish at least one study session a week to stay on pace for review...

Can anyone offer any study tips? I heard that just reading straight through and then doing the practice questions once finished with the book works well for some people... Others religiously do the readings and then do the practice questions right afterwards...

Any study suggestions on getting through this without cramming at the last minute would be really helpful...

Here is my general schedule:
6:30am - 9:15am -- Study/Read
9:15am - 7pm -- Work
7pm - 11pm -- Family Time

Weekends:
Saturday: Day off to spend time with family.
Sunday: Study ~3 Hours

No 3rd Party Study Materials Used (Budget Constraints)

Cheers~

Completed:

Ethics
Quant
Economics
FRA

To do:

Corp Fin (currently reading)
Port Mgt
Equity
Fixed Income
Derivatives
Alternatives

I am still on track to have 2 months of revision and mock exams/practice questions.
so far FRA has taken the most time (4 weeks and about 2 hrs a day) i had originally planned to do it in 3 weeks but there is just too much material to cover.

Currently on Corp Fin and have given myself 1 week to complete.

My genreal method is to read 1 reading a day and look at review questions along the way up until revision phase, I havenet decided on what to do in revision but will likely just complete as many practice questions as possible for 2 months.

Cheers.

I've started Reading 38, but got stuck on the Income Taxes.. btw I'm non-native speaker so it takes me much time. I've decided to read Schweser notes first and do the practice questions from both books. I have a business administration degree, so most of the parts I already know, so I guess I'll finish the readings until November.

Band 10 from Dec10 ,,
(crammed 13x hrs + 1 mock
started in mid Oct and work was a disaster in Nov so I had to go in blind with ethics)

For Dec11, I started last week with ethics ... (haha, I knw it's late)
Study plan is to finish the material mid Oct, review, cram the formulas and breathe a little
Mon-fri : Study during 6:30-8:30 ,, spend another hour making flash cards
Sat-Sun : Study from 11am-2pm and then 4pm-7pm
I'll be able to lock in 250 hrs within the end of Oct ^^

P.s. I hv a background in finance (undergrad and work)
so I think if get ethics and quant right this time, I'll be ok (crossing my fingers)

In that case, shouldn't you have your CFA by now? What the heck are you doing trolling L1 forums anyway? LOL.
