Schweser 3 day review

Is this worth it? Band 9 this year and think something like this may be the push to get me over the hump for next year.

Its not worth it. Don't waste your last minute precious time, travel and money. Instead take online video course or listen to videos.

save your $$...not possible to cover that much information well in three day course. I took 3 day course through BSAS for level two and aside from few decent presenters it was mostly waste of time/$$. would have been better off spending time on EOC ?'s, notes, etc. these courses would be more effective if they 2-3 day intensives on one topic....quant, FRA, equity, etc where you devote 80% of the time to practice questions, lots of repetition.

The three day review was OK as three day reviews go. Choose the online version so you can watch it multiple times but be sure not to postpone watching it which is easy enough since it's an archived webcast you can watch anytime.

I went to the one in NYC this year. The instructor was great, I just don't think it added much value to my studying. If anything, I think I wasted a good three days. When it comes down to it, the key thing is to practice practice practice. Listening to someone trying to squeeze in all that material in such a relatively short span of time was of very little use.

However, Schweser also offered the online stream version recored in Chicago. That was great, and much cheaper. Sit in the comfort of your own home and replay wtvr it was you didn't catch the first time.

I failed band 8, lack of practice got me what I deserved. But if that wouldn't have been the case, the online stream version would've undoubtedly given me an advantage.

Good luck!

Personally, I found it to be a waste of money. I was Band 9 in 2010. I had studied pretty hard and had taken the Schweser weekly course (which I found minimally helpful- not to the degree that it was for Lvl 1).

Naturally I was freaking out this year not wanting to fail again this year and did everything I thought was within reason. Read old Schweser, new schweser, sections of CFAI text, EOC, bought Schweser Q-Bank, etc. etc. etc. Then I purchased the 3 day course out of pure panic after receiving about 4 different e-mails about it. Went to the class and it just seemed to confuse me more than help. Teacher was talking about his way of looking at problems, only looking at some of the top level concepts with 1 or 2 examples and there's just such a vast amount of material, couldn't really cram it all in. We spent HOURS on Time Series Analysis and then the last 45 minutes of the 3 days on Derivatives AND Portfolio Management.

The way that I look at it, if you were Band 9, you know your stuff. They may have asked questions that you weren't prepared for. Keep at it. Read the texts over with CFAI text for the harder areas (really, really helped me with understanding swaps) and crush a lot of problems. Just keep chugging. You don't need to give Schweser an extra $700 or whatever. You already know all of the concepts they would skim over. Just practice.

Passed this year, btw.
