CFA ebooks for 2012 material, instead, ebooks

Got the CFAI ebook material today....eight less readings in the 2012 curriculum. 67 readings instead 75....wow!!! The econ text has 7 less readings!!!

Can you tell me if the ebook version is nice to read as some past users told me that the ebook version 2010 is not worthwhile and the text is small.

My ebooks (L3 but no reason why L1 should be any different) looked pretty crisp on my ipad. My only grip is that the large file size (500-800mb each volume) is eating into the memory space. And this time around you get to keep them for 5 years.

I suggest getting the CFAI Text book bundle when registering for the exam. The bundle includes both the regular CFAI 6 volume set of books and the ebook version of the curriculum. A couple advantages to the ebook:

1) You don't have to wait for the paper version of the books to get started. I'm already starting to prepare for the June exam.

2) Through the course of studying for the exam my main source for going through the material is the paper version of the curriculum, I use the ebook to locate key words from the Learning Out Statements (LOS) to pin point all of the pages within in the reading that the key word shows up on. Saves a ton time.

3) At this point, if you have an Ipad, both the ebook and paper version of the material is portable.

4) Combining the CFA Text and the ebook when studying. One advantage to having both....when going through the end of reading problems you could open the CFA book to problem pages and leave the ebook open to the problem answers, saves time going from one to the other. Another savings in time.

One disadvantage:

I use speed reading techniques, the paper version works best for that.

I don't know where the text size problem came from, you can make the reading window almost full size in your laptop or PC viewing area. Text size is no problem.

A big thumbs up to the CFAI for providing both the paper and electronic versions of the curriculum.

I just downloaded the 2012 L2 eBook and received my 2012 L2 books today! Be sure get the bundle -- I love being able to print and work the practice problems / read the material from an iPad when at the airport.

The eBook is awesome! DO IT!

P.S. 2012 eBooks restrict printing @ 10 pages per print operation! The limit was 170 last year for 2011 materials. I'm so angry I can't see straight!

This means that I'll be able to finish printing my practice problems sometime in July 2063.

That is a major -ve point, if one can't print it in one go then there is no point ordering the eBook version.

Also -- be advised then when you "PRINT" (as opposed to screen capture the material) that the print spooler garbles the resolution on the text. You'll be able to read it, but it'll look fuzzy!

Has anyone tried using the ebooks with the kindle? or know how to convert it to a kindle-friendly format. Many thanks

You'd have to PDF it to get it on the Kindle. I haven't tried this but I can imagine the resolution wouldn't be that awesome since the printed PDFs don't look that snazzy. I'm afraid it's iPad / iPhone or nothing with VitalSource Bookshelf (puke)
