ppl have different education backgrounds, some completed their higher education in China, others finished it overseas. The PROBLEM is that ppl have different views about the standards and quality of higher education in different countries. Some ppl believe that master students in Chinese unis are generally better than those who study overseas because it's more difficult to get in while others believe the other way around because it's usually more challenging to study overseas. Therefore, a unified exam such as CFA is the only way to prove that you are no worse than others if ppl have prejudices against your education backgrounds. I got many friends who are currently studying in non-US and not well-known unis taking CFA exams for this very reason.
