2013 CFAI MOCK AFTERNOON #10 2013, understand, figure, where

for the #10.
i can figure out how the d=0.8333 comes out,
i thought the d=0.8;
an i cant understand where the X=30, C++=9.675 comes out from..

Does any one got a clue?
