Hypothesis Testing.... hypothesis, referring, reading, testing, exactly

Does hypothesis testing serves any other part or study session of the curriculum?(Eco,equity,fixed income)

And when u guys refer to regression analysis,exactly which part of quant are u referring to?Is it the Common pro distribution,sampling,hypothesis or the complete 3rd study session?

I am really confused after completing the sampling reading

Please help

Hypothesis testing is NOT a pre-requisite for any other CFA L1 topic. So, dont worry if that was your concern.

Regression Analysis is not there in L1 (atleast it was not in L1 Quant for Jun 09), it is part of L2 Quant.

And also dont get too much worried, if you see yourself confused after your 1st reading. It is probably the same with most in their first readings.

I would suggest, do another reading if you have time now or come back later to it. And post specific questions on stuff you find confusing. I am sure there will be lot of help here as many would have completed their Quant readings.

Well,my main concern is regarding hypothesis testing as i am through with Quant except hypothesis becoz i am getting extremely confused while going through this reading maybe it's what we call the burnout phase.But now that u have confirmed that hypothesis testing has nothing to do with the rest of the level 1 curriculum,i can take a breather and move on to economics as planned and in the time to come, i shall get back to quant.

And i just checked,regression analysis is in level 2 quant.

Hi all,

I think you need to have a decent grasp of hypothesis testing before you study regression analysis for L2.

I'm not sure if you need it for any other sections of the CBOK though, but definitely not for L1.

thanks soddy,your input is more than welcome,i appreciate it a lot.

Well,it's not like that i am going to skip hypothesis or something ,it's just that i am not comfortable doing it right now.I plan on completing it after i am through with economics.Therefore,i just wanted to confirm wether or not it server any other part of the rest of the curriculum in level 1.
